I have always enjoyed photography - taking pictures myself and looking at pictures that other people have taken. I particularly like the current trend of photojournalistic photography where a story is told through creative and artistic photos. Although I've enjoyed taking pictures for a long time, I had always stuck with the automatic settings on my camera which yielded basic pictures, nothing exciting. So, when a friend of Matt's, who is also a professional photographer, advertised that she and another photographer were going to host a photo class as a charity fundraiser, I jumped at the chance to learn more about photography!
My main goal was to learn how to manipulate the settings in the manual mode on my camera in order to create more artistic photos. I had a blast and learned a lot! So, when I came home, I asked Allison if she would be my model so that I could practice my new skills. These pictures were some of my favorites!
After I had taken quite a few pictures, Allison asked if she could take some. She did a great job! The photo below is one of my favorites. She cracked me up as she was taking the pictures because she would have the camera ready to take the picture, then at the last second she would wrinkle her nose, wave her hand at me and say, "Nah, I don't like that pose. Do this..." like she was a real photographer doing a photo shoot.
I have a lot more to learn, but I'm having fun experimenting with more creative photography!
