On Saturday, July 16th, Scott and Lindsey got married! The wedding took place at a spa resort in Union, Washington, which was a beautiful place on a lake surrounded by mountains and trees. Because the wedding was planned to be outside, we were all hoping for no rain. However, the rain poured most of the day which was disappointing, especially for Scott and Lindsey.
We spent the first half of the day getting ready. Allison and I hung out with the bridesmaids, Lindsey, and her mom Debbie in the bridal suite. Debbie paid for all of us to have our hair done which was so nice! Allison felt like a princess getting her hair curled by the stylist. We had lunch, got dressed, and helped Lindsey get dressed. She looked so beautiful in her dress! It was fun watching Allison take it all in.
In the meantime, the guys were hanging out in another part of the resort and getting ready. Even while it was still raining, Lindsey and Scott had their "first look" and session of pictures of just the two of them. At one point, Scott was carrying a large patio umbrella to keep Lindsey and her dress dry while walking from one picture site to another - made for a cute picture! The wedding party then joined them in the lobby for more pictures.
An hour before the wedding, the sky cleared up and the rain went away. Scott and Lindsey were very relieved that the wedding was going to go on as planned. The wedding ceremony was simple and very sweet. Allison did a nice job as the flower girl but became very shy when people were watching her as she walked down the aisle. The ceremony ended with a rainbow in the sky - just perfect!
After the ceremony, the guests gathered underneath a nearby canopy for cocktails and appetizers. It was a nice time for people to chat while Scott and Lindsey signed their marriage license and took a few more pictures. Some of us walked out on the dock to enjoy the water and the beautiful evening.
The reception began with an introduction of the wedding party. Soon after, we showed a really special slideshow of pictures of Scott and Lindsey from over the years that my mom had made. Dinner was a choice of chicken or salmon, and both were very good. The cake and cupcakes were delicious, too!
After dinner, the dancing began and lasted for a long time. Even Allison joined in the fun and danced most of the night away with Lindsey's sorority sisters, the best man Pat, and my dad. She had a blast! At the end of the night, we lit sparklers to send off Lindsey and Scott.
My favorite aspect of the whole trip was getting to spend so much time with Scott and Lindsey, our families, and their friends. We loved meeting Lindsey's family and instantly felt a connection with them! The bridesmaids were so sweet to let Allison hang out with them over the weekend. She especially attached herself to Lindsey's two sisters, Mikaela and Jenna, and still talks about them all the time. We wish that we lived closer to Lindsey and Scott and Lindsey's family, but thankfully, technology allows us to stay in touch!
This was the most beautiful wedding, and Matt and I felt very honored to be a part of it. We feel so blessed to have Lindsey in our family. She is a smart, beautiful girl who has a gentle spirit and is so thoughtful of others. I've enjoyed getting to know her very much, and I look forward to becoming closer with her in the years to come. Scott and Lindsey - we wish many blessings on your marriage and your future together. As each of you grows closer to God, the bond between the two of you will strengthen. We love you guys and are excited to see your life unfold together.
